As in previous years we had a wonderful holiday in Vista do Moinho. We all love the villa and really enjoy our relaxing holidays there as it has such an amazing location and is so well equipped. Everything was good with the exception of the wifi blip but thanks to Angie for sorting. Last time we visited in 2015 we fed back that it was very dark by the BBQ/eating area and it needed more lighting. The new lighting is perfect.

We've enjoyed our holiday very much. We had a lovely stay at Vista do Moinho.
A lovely quiet place. Perfect swimming pool. Very nice outdoor dining area. Everything was o.k. Also the contact with jacaranda holidays!
If I must say something what could be improved: I would prefer a few more comfortable outdoor chairs at the back door of the house (the side overviewing the pool area) and a more flattened surface off the terrace at the backdoor.

Even though a bit remote, we have always loved to get back 'home' after a day out, take a swim in the nice pool, and enjoy the view and peaceful nature. The house is furnished with style and charm, and no bad surprise in regards to the description on your homepage. A lot of travel documentation and maps, your own Jacaranda info’s and tips, all is perfectly prepared and in place for a stress less stay. The kitchen with the new freezer and fridge very modern & functional. Thanks for your assistance and personal welcome on our arrival.

A beautiful and charming four bedroom villa, with private garden and swimming pool, nestled into an inspiring hillside setting, with superb views. This very comfortable villa can accommodate 8 people and is a short drive from the historic town of Tavira and the golden beaches of the Algarve. An idyllic holiday home with all modern comforts.

What is the outside area like?

Designed with the utmost consideration for the landscape, there are many sunny and shady spots to sit and enjoy the views. A covered pergola with a dining table, seating and a purpose built barbeque look out onto the rolling Algarvean ‘Serra’. Follow the steps down to the pretty, tiled pool area with the 12m by 4m swimming pool with its plentiful sunbathing area. The pool area has lockable gates, for a safer and more child-friendly environment. Have a game of ‘boule’ on the little court, whilst enjoying this beautiful garden with its bottle brush bushes, lavender, bougainvillea, oleander, agapanthus and many other flowering shrubs. The local area is one of outstanding natural beauty, with bird sightings that include Golden Oriels, bee eaters, red legged partridges, Bonelli eagles and short toed eagles. The indigenous trees and shrubs, include cork, cork oak, carob, almond, olive, lemon, rock rose and medronho bushes with most of the surrounding lands completely un-spoilt.

What is the interior like?

Vista do Moinho (windmill view) was built on the site of a ruined Portuguese farmhouse. Its design mirrors the traditional features of the old farmhouse. Many of the rooms have vaulted wooden ceilings giving an airy living space. The living room with its double French windows, comfortable settees, and wood burning stove is very inviting. There is a flat screen television with UK freeview channels, a CD player and ipod docking station. The dining area may be closed off with double doors or kept as an open living area, with an extendable 8-seater table the stylish dining room is perfect for entertaining. From the dining area there is open split level access to the kitchen and the fantastic Aga style cooker. The kitchen is fully equipped and has all the cooking and baking utensils you would wish for. There is access from the kitchen onto a breakfast courtyard with table and chairs. From the lounge there is access to a pretty double bedroom with patio doors and an en-suite bathroom with shower. There is a twin room adjacent to the bathroom. The third ground floor bedroom has twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and leads on from the dining area. The master bedroom occupies all of the first floor, making it a very spacious and relaxing area. The en-suite bathroom has a shower and a bath. There are two patio doors in the bedroom leading on to a double terrace, with marvelous country views. The master bedroom, as with all of the bedrooms at Vista do Moinho has air conditioning. Vista do Moinho also has wi-fi access.

Are sun loungers and umbrellas provided?

Quality sun loungers deck the terrace around the pool and there are sun umbrellas, a table and chairs available.

What are the dimensions of the pool? What type of pool cleaning?

12 m x 4 m with steps leading into a shallow end of 1 m and a deep end of 1.8 m. Freshwater pool with Chlorine cleaning system. The pool is serviced twice weekly during summer and once weekly during the rest of the year by a competent and reliable professional. Pool and garden lighting is available.

How far are the shops and restaurants?

The charming village of Santa Catarina is a 10 minute drive from the villa, with its shops and amenities and there is a fantastic local restaurant 2 km away, serving local game, including wild boar.

How far are the beaches?

The renowned blue flag beaches of the Algarve including Barril beach in Sta. Luzia and Ilha de Tavira are a 20 to 30 minute drive.

How far are the golf courses?

There are excellent golf courses within 25 to 40 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.


Is the accommodation suitable for children?

Vista do Moinho is a wonderful family home and the gated pool area can be locked if needed.

What facilities are there for babies and children?

There is a cot and high chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.

Is the accommodation suitable for elderly?

This accommodation is suitable for the elderly as there is a bedroom on the ground floor without step access, however there are steps to the pool terrace.

How close are the nearest neighbours? Is the property overlooked?

Vista do Moinho is not overlooked, the nearest neighbours are 20m away.

What type of access it there to the property?

Eiras Altas area has a tarmac road, with a 20m country track approach to the property.

How quiet is the area around the property?

You can’t get much quieter….!

Is smoking permitted?

Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property.

Are pets allowed at the accommodation?

Due to the possibility of guests being allergic to animal hair, we would rather not allow pets.

Which is the changeover day and time?

Flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged.

Are linen, bath towels and beach towels provided?

Yes, we provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms.

Will there be provisions at the accommodation upon arrival?

There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals.

Is a car recommended for this property?

Yes, especially in the heat of summer…and for reaching all the beautiful and interesting places further afield. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

Will there be a local representative available on arrival and in the event that we need any assistance?

Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and competent service from a team of property managers, who can be contacted at anytime.
