A very elegant and stylish town house, set in the heart of historic Tavira with incredible views over the river Gilao and Tavira town. Located on the banks of the river Gilao, yet in a very quiet part of the town, this beautiful house is an ideal retreat and base to explore the wonders of the Eastern Algarve and the surrounding areas. There is a fabulous bistro below Casa O Porto and numerous cafes and restaurants within walking distance. The small passenger boat that ferries people to the golden-sand Isle of Tavira, regularly until dusk, departs nearby on the riverbank. All in all an ideal holiday location for couples and families.

What is the outside area like?

Casa O Porto has the advantage of two large terraces, overlooking the Rio Gilao and Tavira. Relax on the terrace, watch the fishing boats and let the world go by!

What is the interior like?

This beautifully light house, has been designed and furnished with a Moroccan influence, making Casa O Porto a very relaxing and comfortable place to visit. Stairs lead from the cobbled street up to the first floor and a very spacious double bedroom, with a chaise longe sofa and double sliding patio doors that open onto the first terrace with magnificent views over the Rio Gilao. This bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with shower. There is also another bathroom with shower on this floor. The second floor is accessed via a very pretty tiled staircase and leads into a large living room and kitchenette. There is a dining table that seats four and the lounge has sliding glass patio doors to make the most of the beautiful river view. The living room has air conditioning.

How far are the shops and restaurants?

Shops and restaurants are all within walking distance.  There is an excellent Bistro on the ground floor of Casa O Porto.

How far are the beaches?

The beautiful Island of Tavira is one kilometer from Casa O Porto. You will discover wonderful golden, sandy blue flag beaches, beach bars and restaurants on an island 10 kilometers by 1. The town ferry runs regularly from the end of May to the end of September. There is an alternative ferry service from 1kilometer down river which runs all year.

How far are the golf courses?

There are excellent golf courses within 10 to 15 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.

Is a car recommended for this property?

Not at all essential, Tavira offers plenty of local entertainment and places of interest. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

 

Is the accommodation suitable for children?

Located over two levels, with two staircases, the stairs might be an issue for smaller children.

What facilities are there for babies and children?

There is a cot and high chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.

Is the accommodation suitable for elderly?

Located over two levels, with two staircases, the stairs might be an issue for the less mobile. However the location is very suitable as no transport is needed.

How close are the nearest neighbours? Is the property overlooked?

Casa O Porto is a terraced property and has neighbours either side. The rear room in the property is overlooked. The front of the property faces the river and is not overlooked.

What type of access it there to the property?

There is parking opposite the property and to the rear in the cobbled street.

How quiet is the area around the property?

There are fishing boats that come and go on the river opposite and there are some restaurants and cafes nearby.

Is smoking permitted?

Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property.

Are pets allowed at the accommodation?

Due to the possibility of guests being allergic to animal hair, we would rather not allow pets.

Which is the changeover day and time?

Flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 11am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged.

Are linen, bath towels and beach towels provided?

We provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms, beach towels are not provided.

Will there be provisions at the accommodation upon arrival?

There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals.

Will there be a local representative available on arrival and in the event that we need any assistance?

Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and competent service from a team of property managers, who can be contacted at anytime.
