The beds were clean and very comfortable and the bedrooms were excellent (lots of room).
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday based at the house in Tavira. The house was clean and everything worked ok e.g kitchen equipment, TV. The built-in BBQ was excellent and we used this many times. The Wifi connection was brilliant - many, many thanks.

You could make a little more of the fact that the house is only a 5 minute walk to the centre of Tavira where the are many cafes, bars and restaurants. The house was the best we have stayed in - in terms of its proximity to everything in the town, while being quiet and private.
We stayed during the extraordinary heatwave and the courtyard was extremely hot - we considered buying a large pedestal fan. Might be worth considering, and the bedrooms might need fans too (there was one in the first room as you enter the courtyard).Brian, Nigel and Carol

We had a great time at Alto do Cano, it's in a great position, only a 5 minute walk into town.
The train being so close wasn't a problem as it only went slow past the property. Maybe there needs to be a few jugs or small bowls for microwaving food. But everything else was good and we would definitely go back to stay there.

Thanks a lot team. We enjoyed the house and Tavira a lot this year, even with the high temperatures. Here is our feedback. The charming house  - so well located, quiet and great to relax - contains all the basic you need to enjoy holidays. Perfect place to discover the lovely Tavira historical center, enjoy the restaurants and cultural program that the city offers during the summer nights and all the beautiful beaches along the Ria. Maria and Delio´s attentive and friendly directions and recommendations are very appreciated and definitively worth to follow.  Every summer we thoroughly enjoy our stays!

Unfortunately we had to cut short by a day because of the seriousness of the volcanic dust and the possibility of not getting home. A tastefully restored 3 bedroom town house with a 45m2 courtyard, located on a quiet pedestrian lane on the border of the historical centre of Tavira, often known as the 'Jewel of the Algarve'. A perfect base for a peaceful holiday, with no need to drive as all amenities are within 5 - 10 minutes’ walk.

What is the outside area like?

Central to the property is a private, enclosed courtyard with seating for outdoor dining. A beautifully structured wooden roof over the rooms also supplies shade to part of the courtyard area while other parts remain great sunspots.

What is the interior like?

This town house comprises a kitchen with dining and living room. Alongside this is a double bedroom and twin bedroom with a bathroom. A separate door from the courtyard leads to another double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. This house offers ample space for couples and families and a secure place for children to play. Alto do cano has wireless internet provided.

Are sun loungers and umbrellas provided?

A couple of sun loungers deck the courtyard and there are sun umbrellas, a table and chairs available.

How far are the shops and restaurants?

The historic centre of Tavira is just a short walk away, by the riverside there are many cafés and restaurants.

How far are the beaches?

Tavira Island is reached by ferry boats from the centre of town and from further downstream. The town ferry service runs through June to end of September and is a very enjoyable 15 minute trip. The other ferry service is annual and is a short 5 minute crossing.

How far are the golf courses?

There are excellent golf courses within 5 to 10 minutes’ drive from the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.

Is a car recommended for this property?

Not at all essential. There are two bicycles at the house which you are welcome to use. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

 

Is the accommodation suitable for children?

Ideal for staying in with children and likewise convenient for stepping out into town without the hassle of transport…

What facilities are there for babies and children?

There is a cot and high chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.

Is the accommodation suitable for elderly?

Suitable for elderly.

How close are the nearest neighbours? Is the property overlooked?

This is a semi detached property with a few neighbours further up the lane, not at all overlooked.

What type of access it there to the property?

The lane is cobbled and pedestrianised. Accessed some meters away from parking and tarmac roads.

How quiet is the area around the property?

As a town property this remains a quiet area

Is smoking permitted?

Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property.

Are pets allowed at the accommodation?

We can allow small pets, there will be a small charge for them staying.

Which is the changeover day and time?

Flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged.

Are linen, bath towels and beach towels provided?

Yes, we provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms.

Will there be provisions at the accommodation upon arrival?

There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals.

Will there be a local representative available on arrival and in the event that we need any assistance?

Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and competent service from the owners, who can be contacted at anytime.
