We had a really pleasant holiday and, apart one rainy day(!), everything was perfect. The kids loved the pool and spent the days playing around the property. Everything in the kitchen worked perfectly was and we've loved your dishwasher :-) ! Unfortunately we haven't met Angie but we've spoken a few times on the phone and we get to know that Angie is an extremely kind person.Thank you very much. We are hoping to be back to your property in a near future.

We had a great holiday - thank you so much for all your help with the booking, getting to the villa and the lovely welcome from Angie. The pool and the views were great- just what we wanted. The location also worked well for us - we found Aldi in Olahao ( probably spelt wrong) easily and used the supermarkets in moncarpacho. Nicola's was great for a seafood lunch and chill in the square people watching.  Things we liked about the villa itself- besides the pool and views!!!! Size and layout- worked well for us as a small family and can see it working well for a larger group, kitchens well equipped, use of washing machine, upstairs terrace, fig, lemon, almond and pomegranate trees. We love Portugal and intend to return to the east algarve in the future. We will certainly use Jacaranda holidays and recommend you to family and friends.

This three bedroom house with a first floor one bedroom apartment, private pool and gardens is located amongst citrus groves and typical Algarvian houses, close to Moncarapacho, the fishing town of Olhao and Estoi, overlooking countryside of low citrus and almond trees and nearby a selection of beautiful beaches. A private, quiet and welcoming environment, perfect for couples or families.

What is the outside area like?

Tiered terraces, shrubs, carobs and palm trees enhance seclusion of the 4400 m2 of mature gardens, patios and lawn surrounding the property. The covered terrace has benches and a large table for exterior dining and is partially sheltered. It overlooks the beautiful mosaic swimming pool and patio area with wonderful sea views.

What is the interior like?

This traditional house has comfortable rooms leading on to a homely kitchen and leading out to a spacious and shaded terrace overlooking the pool, surrounded by 4400m2 of private lawn and mature gardens. Casa Silen sleeps four people downstairs in two double bedrroms and one sing bedroom.  Plus three people in the adjoining upstairs apartment. A light main room with a wood burner, and air conditioning leads on to three bedrooms and a washroom/toilet with a separate shower. Also accessed from the lounge is a large and fully fitted kitchen equipped with all modern appliances and a dining table. A separate utility room with a washing machine and W/C is accessible from the patio area for the pool use.  The living room has a hi-fi, television and satellite with European channels, one settee and two armchairs and fireplace.  The ground floor area of the house is 80m2 with a 26m2 covered terrace area. The upstairs apartment is accessible from within the house via a spiral staircase or by external stairs from its own large terrace overlooking the pool. This apartment comprises a living room with two single sofa beds and a TV with European satellite channels, a hall leading onto a double bedroom, a bathroom with a shower unit and a small kitchen with a dining table. There is also an air conditioning unit that services the first floor.  The floor area of this apartment is 52.5m2 and the terrace is 45m2.  Casa Silen has wireless internet provided.

Are sun loungers and umbrellas provided?

Sun loungers deck the terrace around the pool and there are sun umbrellas, large tables and chairs available for outdoor use.

What are the dimensions of the pool? What type of pool cleaning?

A lovely 9m x 4.5m pool with a roman end with steps leading into a shallow end of 1m and a deep end of 1.95m. Freshwater pool with salt cleaning system. The pool is serviced twice weekly during summer and once weekly during the rest of the year by a competent and reliable professional. Pool and garden lighting is available.

How far are the shops and restaurants?

There is a local shop and café in Quelfes, approximately 1.5km away and a wider variety of shops, cafés and restaurants in Moncarapacho just 8 minutes drive away. Larger supermarkets can be located 10 minutes drive away in Olhão.

How far are the beaches?

A good selection of beaches can be reached within 10 to 15 minutes by car, including various deserted lagoons and beaches with facilities. The Islands of Culattra, Armona and Farol can be reached by ferry boat from Olhao, 5km away.

How far are the golf courses?

There are excellent golf courses within 10 to 25 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest is Colina Verde and further afield are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei. The more popular golf courses west of Faro can be reached within 30 minutes.

Is a car recommended for this property?

Yes, especially in the heat of summer…and for reaching all the beautiful and interesting places further afield. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

 

Is the accommodation suitable for children?

Suitable for children under supervision of adults, there is rather low wall dividing the pool terrace to the garden below.

What facilities are there for babies and children?

There is a cot and high chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.

Is the accommodation suitable for elderly?

Having ground floor bedrooms and a bathroom and no other steps, this accommodation can be suitable for elderly people.

How close are the nearest neighbours? Is the property overlooked?

There are two neighbouring houses on the other side of the entrance gate and beyond and to the side of the pool terrace, however Casa Silen is not overlooked.

What type of access it there to the property?

The property is approached by a quiet, small driveway from the main road and has a gated entrance, off road car parking is provided by the house. The garden around the house and the pathways are lit.

How quiet is the area around the property?

This accommodation is situated within a small enclave of traditional houses, set 40 metres from a B road.

Is smoking permitted?

Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property.

Are pets allowed at the accommodation?

Please enquire if you wish to bring small pets.

Which is the changeover day and time?

Flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged.

Are linen, bath towels and beach towels provided?

Yes, we provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms.

Will there be provisions at the accommodation upon arrival?

There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals.

Will there be a local representative available on arrival and in the event that we need any assistance?

Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and competent service from a team of property managers, who can be contacted at anytime.
